Features of the Autotech SM50P remote control

Autotech SM50P remote control

The Autotech SM50P remote control is user-friendly and functional. It has 3 buttons and, by combining the buttons, it can store up to 6 different codes for different mechanisms (swing gate, garage door, roller shutter, etc.). It is a six-channel remote, which means that the first three channels operate by pressing one of the three buttons, while for the next three channels, two buttons must be pressed simultaneously. (1st with 2nd, 1st with 3rd, 2nd with 3rd)

This feature allows the user to operate various doors and automation systems with a single remote control. (home, work, holiday home, etc.) There is also the possibility for each user-remote control to have access to a different combination of automation systems.

It operates at a frequency of 433.92 MHz and can copy other fixed-code remote controls operating at the same frequency.

Detailed description of the Autotech SM50P remote control features:

  • Compatibility with many of the most popular receivers on the market.
  • Registering a new automation is an extremely simple process and does not require specialized personnel. (Most receivers and Autotech control panels have a Learn (or AutoLearn) button for registration)
  • Copying the remote control does not require special knowledge or equipment.
  • Their construction material is robust and durable (polycarbonate plastic).
  • It works with a 12V alkaline battery, type 23A, (compatible models available on the market are: A23, LRV08, L1028, RVO8, 23A, MS21, MN21, E23A, K23A, V23GA, GP23A, 8LR932, 8LR23, VR22, 8F10R, EL12). It has low power consumption, so battery replacement is required at long intervals. Battery replacement does not affect use. (no re-registration of automation is needed)
  • Convenient design that does not hinder use. Its small dimensions and light weight make it easy to carry.
  • Ability to use up to 6 automation systems. The first 3 operate by pressing a single button, while the next 3 operate by combining 2 buttons.
  • Operating frequency: 433.92 MHz
  • Remote control encoding:
    • Encoding used by our company: Autotech 24bit rolling code. LED with characteristic yellow-orange color. It can also copy SM50P remote controls with the red indicator LED (the 12 bit fixed code ones).
    • Not used by our company: 12 bit fixed code. LED with characteristic red color.
    • Not used by our company: KeeLoq 64bit rolling code. LED with characteristic blue color.
  • SAW filter
  • Maximum range (ideal conditions): 60m
  • SMD technology
  • Integrated microcontroller
  • CE compliance mark

Autotech company has several remote controls that have a similar appearance. As mentioned above, the easiest way to distinguish them is the LED light that illuminates when any button is pressed.

Also, the model of each remote control is printed on each circuit board:

  • SM-50P (the model we use) Operating frequency 433.92 MHz. Available with 12bit fixed code or Autotech 24bit rolling code encoding.
  • SM-50PAN - Operating frequency 272-330 MHz (factory adjustable only). Available with 12bit fixed code encoding. Attention: The identification of this remote control is done only by checking with a frequency meter to find the factory selected frequency.
  • SM-50H - Operating frequency 433.92 MHz. Available with KeeLoq 64bit rolling code encoding.
  • SM-50R - Copying remote control for remote controls with various frequencies and encodings.

The SM-50P remote controls we use have the following characteristics:

These remote controls were previously available in blue (instead of black). They are the same and can cooperate perfectly whether they are in blue or black. (with yellow-orange light in both cases)

SM-50P remote control registration to a compatible receiver

The remote control and the receiver must be close to each other. Open the receiver (cover) to access the circuit board of the receiver or control panel.

Most receivers or control panels have a button for registering remote controls. (this button is marked Learn or Autolearn). Usually, the programming process starts by pressing this button, but it is advisable to follow the instructions that accompany the receiver or control panel, respectively.

Copying SM-50P remote controls

SM-50P remote controls can copy each other without requiring access to the receiver. This is often extremely convenient, as the receiver may be located in hard-to-reach areas (at a great height, inside a false ceiling, etc.)

The following is an example of copying button 1 from the original remote control to button 3 of the new one:

New remote control

  • Press all 3 buttons simultaneously.
  • The clone's LED will illuminate continuously.
  • Release all three buttons.
  • The remote control's LED light turns off.

Then place the two remote controls close to each other (their front sides almost touching)

New remote control:

  • Keep the button you want to store the code on pressed. (in our case, button 3) The LED remains off and do not release this button until the process is complete.

Original:

  • Press the button that has the code you want to copy (in our case, button 1) and hold it down.

New remote control:

  • When the new code has been transferred to the new remote control, the LED light illuminates and simultaneously transmits the new code.

Original and new remote control:

  • Release the buttons on both remote controls. The process is complete.

The process is repeated if you want to copy another button. Special attention is required if the copying takes place near the door, as the automation will be activated during the process.

Changing remote control codes

In case of loss of a remote control (theft, copying by an unauthorized user, etc.), it is necessary to change the remote control codes and delete the old codes from the receiver.

The deletion of codes from the receiver or control panel depends on each receiver or control panel, and you should consult its user manual.

The codes of the SM50P remote controls are changed by following the procedure below:

  • Press and hold all three buttons of the remote control steadily until the LED lights up continuously.
  • Release all three buttons simultaneously and the LED turns off.
  • Press and hold all three buttons of the remote control steadily until the LED lights up continuously and hold down only the button whose code you want to change. (release the other two buttons) The LED flashes slowly and then (after about 10 seconds) flashes quickly.
  • Release the button you were holding down, which now has a new code.

The above procedure is performed separately for each button on the remote control. Of course, we can change the code on one button without affecting the others. The new codes are drawn from a huge pool of available codes for greater security.
