Viro V06 electric lock, with single cylinder, for double-leaf hinged garage door with mechanism
Viro V06 electric lock, with single cylinder, for double-leaf swing garage door with mechanism. It locks when the door closes and opens electrically.
Suitable for double-leaf swing gate. It has a floor strike for vertical installation. It is boxed, with a double activation coil and a single cylinder, with a rotating latch, European profile and comes with 3 keys. When the door closes, it automatically locks mechanically. It unlocks electrically, usually with a 12 VAC electrical signal from the automation control panel, when opening or mechanically with the key from the side it is installed (e.g. in case of power failure). Resistance to vertical load: at least 540 kg.

The Viro V06 electric lock is suitable for installation on double-leaf gates (garage doors). It is installed on the opening side of the door on the primary leaf. (primary is the leaf that opens first and closes last) The Viro V06 electric lock locks mechanically and unlocks electrically. When the lock's latch comes into contact with the strike, it locks mechanically, while it unlocks electrically with a 12VAC voltage or manually with a key.
It offers security by locking the gates and additional protection from wind pressure in the closed position.
It includes a floor strike for the lock's latch and a single European profile cylinder, type VIRO 975, through which the lock can be unlocked with a key. Access is only allowed from the side where the lock is installed.
The Viro V06 lock can be installed not only on automatic swing garage doors but also on manual gates.
The features that make it stand out are the following:
- High quality and durability
- Resistance to vertical load of at least 540 kg.
- Reliable operation.
- Due to the single rotating latch (compared to locks with a main and auxiliary latch), it is more tolerant regarding alignment and the lock-strike gap.
- It has two operating modes (SERVICE FUNCTION or SECURITY FUNCTION)
- The same lock can be used on both left and right leaves. Also, by installing the appropriate strike, it can be installed horizontally or vertically.
- It can accept any European profile cylinder as long as the dimensions match. (double, cylinder with security keys, etc.)

How the Viro V06 electric lock works
When the door approaches the closed position, the lock's latch touches the floor strike, rotates, and closes. The door is secured, and to open it, the lock must be unlocked.
The lock unlocks in one of the following ways:
- With a 12 VAC electrical signal, which can be given in the following ways:
- For automatic swing garage doors with a mechanism, via the control panel. When the door opening command is given, the panel sends a signal to the lock to open. (caution: the panel must be compatible)
- For manual garage doors via a push-button with a transformer. (push-button and transformer can be purchased from electrical supply stores)
- In case of power failure, with a key. Unlocking with a key can only be done from the side where the lock is installed.
The Viro V06 electric lock has 2 operating modes:
- SERVICE FUNCTION. The F component is in place. (this is the factory-set operating mode) When the command is given to the lock, it opens and remains open regardless of whether the door moves. For the lock to lock, the door must open even slightly and then close again. This operating mode is suitable for most cases (manual and electric doors).
- SECURITY FUNCTION. The F component must be removed. In this case, unlocking occurs when the command is given, but at the same time, the door opens even slightly. (at least enough for the latch to be in an oblique position). This operating mode often causes problems as there is no good coordination between the command and the opening of the door.
In both cases, after opening, the lock only locks again when the door is in the closed position.

Installation of VIRO V06 electric lock
During the installation of the VIRO V06 lock, we place the lock on the primary leaf and the strike on the floor.
The secondary leaf approaches the closed position first and stops at the mechanical stop of the door. Then comes the primary leaf, which must have a "pin" (a rebate that holds the secondary leaf in the closed position) and secures the secondary leaf. The latch, which is in an oblique position, touches the strike and comes to a straight position. For proper locking, there must be very little tolerance (about 1mm).

Essentially, the lock secures the primary leaf, and the secondary leaf is held stable by the primary leaf and the mechanical stop.
For the correct and smooth operation of the lock, good waterproofing and/or a protective visor as shown in the figure above is required for protection from moisture.
VIRO V06 electric lock connection
The Viro V06 electric lock is connected with two 2×1 mm² conductors that provide 12 VAC voltage:

When an electric lock is required
- When the swing mechanism is not non-reversible. That is, it does not lock in the closed position.
- When greater security is required.
- When there are strong wind pressures and especially when the door is blind.
- Usually, most automation systems require an electric lock when the door leaf is larger than 2.0-2.5m.
